"If you're one of the near-
ly 5,000,000 disabled workers
who has or will be applying
for Social Security disability
benefits, there is a way for
you to insure faster action
on your claim," advised Sam
F. Test, manager of the De-
troit-Northwest Social Secur-
ity office. "Those disabled
workers who file shortly
after they become disabled
and those who can furnish
the needed information and
proofs at the time they ap-
ply for benefits may save
several months of processing
time," Test said.
According to Test, a work-
er may qualify for Social
Security disability benefits
if he meets a work require-
ment and has a physical or
mental disability which will
prevent him from working
for at least 12 months. By
applying immediately the
claimant may be assured of
prompt action on his claim.
