Detroit's public broadcast-
tile station, Channel 56, will
hold "Art on the Air," a
weekend art auction to in-
. elude paintings, sculpture,
weaving, jewelry, coins and
antiques, 5 p m. - midnight
Nov. 18 and 19.

Mrs. Elliott Trumbull, gen-
eral chairman, has enrolled
volunteers to gather dona-
tions from area merchants
and galleries.
Mrs. Lloyd Adelson and
Mrs. Richard Barnett, veter-
ans of past Channel 56 auc-
tions, have joined the volun-
teer staff, as have Mrs. Jack
Horwitz, Mrs. Ronald Stone,
Dot Cohn, Mrs. Ira Maxon
and others.
Art selections are on dis-
play in the lobbies and win-
dows of New Center area
stores and office buildings.
Today, the public is invited
to see these displays and
tour the Channel 56 studio.
Celebrity auctioneers will
bring art treasures to the
public and earn money to
keep such programs as "Ses-
same Street." "Masterpiece
Theater." and "Detroit Black
Journal" on the air.
