The B e st of Everything

FORGET ALL THOSE
false rumors flying around
regarding Town and Country
Club and Sidney-Hill . . .
Here's the exact lowdown di-
rect from the horse's mouth,
so to speak . .. in this case,
Marty Fuerst, president of
T and C, and Leonard Stone,
board chairman of Sidney-
Hill . . . Town and Country
Club's name will remain,
and it will continue to be a
private club . . . Sidney-Hill
is not taking over . . they'll
strictly operate and manage
for T and C . with two
types of memberships avail-
able . . family and single
. . both being able to par-
ticipate in the health club
. . Family members can
use all the facilities of T and
C, including both men's and
women's health clubs . . .
Single members can use only
the men's health club and
all the facilities except out-
door swimming pools, tennis
courts and Saturday night

PAUL BAKER says his
wife Marcia is being called
a 4-F ... She's a reject from
Weight Watchers . . . going
there and being turned down
because only
4
pounds
overweight (their formula
calls for at least 10 pounds
over) . . . "You may be 4-F
to them," says Paul, "but
you're 1-A to me!"

AL ROSENBERG is the
new kosher caterer at Adas
Shalom Synagogue in Farm
ington.

GOES BACK TO WHEN
Mel Ball and Michael Krause
were 14 years old and both
went to Mumford High . . .
Each played drums and had
his own band ... Five years
later, they joined up to-
gether, with Mel on vibes,
Mike on drums, Marty
Schwartz, trumpet, Jerry
Harris, piano, and Bob
Hecker, bass . . . when for
a short period, Mel became
part of a group known as
The Counts . . . Marty is
now an oral surgeon in Bos-
ton, Jerry a Los Angeles
businessman, Bob a stock-
broker and Mike a TV pro-
ducer (Mike Douglas Show,
etc.) . . . Only Mel re-
mained in music, and when
he and wife Gail were wed
in 1970, Mike came in to be
best man . . . Now appear.
ing with his fine quartet for
listening and dancing at An-
gel's Hour Glass on W. Mc-
Nichols, Mel also concen-
trates on composing and re-
cording . . . plus doing com-
mercials for radio and tele-
vision.
SAVE OLD NEWSPAPER
FOR . . rolling in rugs to
be stored, or placing away
with winter clothes—it's a
moth discourager . . . Also,
it makes a good pad under
rugs (who sees it anyway?)

LARRY SANTOS Is fea-
tured through December at
the Apartment Loung e,
backed by his trio group,
"Misty" ... It's like "home"
to Larry who seems to emote
with best feeling when in the
intimacy of the Apartment
Lounge . . . His very fine
repertoire and style are com•
plimented by an exciting
voice that offers deep feel.
Mg, with every throated note
Larry gives out . . . lie's a
very good entertainer—per-
haps among the best In his
field.

REQUESTS COME from
Lou and Mary Rose in Phoe-
nix and Joe and Sonja Sills
in Farmington for excuses
to have a party . . . Lou and
Mary's date is Nov. 19 . . .
that's Discovery Day in
Puerto Rico ... and Joe and
Sonja want a shindig on
Dec. 2 . . . which is the an-
niversary of the Monroe
Doctrine .. . As Jimmy Du-
rante would say, "I've got a
million of 'dem!" . . . or at
least 365 . . . an authentic
excuse for every day of the
year to have a party.
• ANSWERS TO QUERIES
