friend who took his car to an
unknown garage while in
New York - - Two days
later when he called for the
car, he was presented with
a bill that looked like the na-

mean to tell me you're going
to charge this huge amount
just for relining the clutch?"
stormed Jerry's friend . . .
"Ya don't like it, bud, ya
don't have to take it,"
snarled the mechanic. I'll
just hold yer car till ya pay."
"Okay." said the fellow
who'd been gypped. "But
let's dicker a little. Do you
make a reduction to someone
who is in your same line of
business?" . . . "Why?"
asked the mechanic. "Are
you a garage operator?" .
"No," replied the car owner.
"I'm a professional thief."
