Housing Prices
Stay Up Despite
Buyer Fall-Off

TEL AVIV (ZINS) - Eco-
nomic indicators show that
• the last six months the
price of housing in Israel has
been stabilized, but there is
no indication of a decline
in prices, despite a notice-
able fall-off of buyers.
the northern sections of
Tel Aviv, apartments are
nriced at about IL 45,000 per
room, bringing the cost of a
four-room apartment to IL
180,000 (S45,C00).
In Holon, on the other
hand, a three-room dwelling
can be bought for IL 80-
to 90,000.

While the cost of new hous-
ing remains more or less
constant, there has been a
sharp increase in the amount
of key money paid for old
rent-controlled apartments in
Tel Aviv, A two-room apart-
ment of this class in Bog-
rashow St., Tel Aviv, calls
for a payment of IL 68,000
($17,000) in key money. A
three-room apartment in the
same area needs ... IL 120- to
130,000 in key money.
The Hebrew daily Davar
illustrates the inflation pla-
guing:
the
Israol housing

scene:
An engineer built a villa
in Herzliya Pituach 18
months ago at a cost of IL
170,000 ($42,500). Observing
the sky-rocketing prices, he
decided to sell the house and
rent an apartment. He found
a Jewish buyer from West
Germany who paid him IL
950,000 - a 650 per cent pro-
fit in a year and a half.
Another resident of Herz-
liya who built a villa for
IL 280,000 (approximately
$70,000.) leased it to an
American at a monthly rent-
al of $1,500.

which form the alphabet of
heredity-the genetic code.

honored by the U.S. Nation-
al Institutes of Health as its
first scholar-in-residence, or

mann Institute, The chair

ring, who heads the accelera-
tor laboratory and who will
direct the institute's new and
-yen more powerful 14 UD
nuclear accelerator when
this facility is installed as
part of the projected new
Canadian Center for Nuclear
Physics.
