Your piece on Heine was
top notch but you, and others,
too, err in saying there is no
monument to Heine in Dus-
seldorf.
On pages I09-110 of the new
edition of my book, The
Traveler's Guide to Jewish
Landmarks in Europe," there
are listed and described the
following memorials to
Heine:
Ileine's Birthplace, mark-
ed by a plaque at 53 Dol.
kerstrasse on a restored
house occupied by a
baker shop. The original
house was smashed by
bombs during WW II.
Heine Bust in the Zum
Goldenen Kessel restaur-
ant at 44 Bolkerstrasse
on the site of a building
where Heine's father was
in business when the port
was born.
There is also a Peine
memorial in the Ccurt of
Honor at the end of the Hof-
garden by the side of the
Rhinel a statue called Har-
mony in the Hofgarden which
has a bas relief of Heine's
head and a quote from his
works; a Heine plaque at en-
trance hall of city hall, the
Heine School at 186 Heerd-
ter Landstrasse, which has
a bust of Heine in the en-
trance lobby; a Heinestrasse
and Heine Allee, one of the
city's most attractive boule-
vards.

I am reviewing "0 Jeru-
salem!" for some local
groups and have thus studied
this work more carefully
than if I were simply reading
it. I was interested in your
editorial last week, specifi-
cally in reference to the Deir
Yassin incident.
I am more than sure that
time tends to muddy the
facts of history; I am con-
vinced that this tragedy, as
related by Collins and La-
pierre, probably has been
magnified through the years
as an Arab propaganda tool.
However, in my opinion, re-
