Shlonsky Works
to Be in Russian

TEL AVIV (JTA) — The,
works of Abraham Shlonsky,
the 72-year-old Russian-born
poet and translator, will be
translated into Russian
through the offices of the
Soviet Embassy in Paris.
Shlonsky, returning herei
from a cultural congress in
Paris, said he had been un-
expectedly invited by Soviet
Ambassador Piotr Abrassi-
mov, who discussed with him
at length—in the presence of
the Soviet cultural attache
—the subjects of poetry and
literature.
Shlonsky, who came to
Palestine in 1912 at age 12,
published his first Hebrew
poems in 1919. Since then he
has published many collec-
tions of his poems and has
translated works of Gorki,
Trotsky, Gogol, Hugo, Ansky,
Brecht and others.
