Three major innovations in
Jewish communal life will
take place in the coming
decade according to the Task
Force report:
• A reordering of priori-
ties for Jewish communal
organizations, which, while
continuing to aid individuals
in trouble, will place greater
emphasis on education, com-
munity involvement in syna-

Considerable attention was
paid by the Task Force to
the ways in which funds
raised by the Jewish com-
munity had been spent in the
past and to the probability
of reordered priorities.

The trend in the coming
decade is expected to be
away from more generalized
undertakings and toward the
allocation of greater funds
for more narrowly defined
Jewish interests, the Task
Force said.

Jewish philanthropy, which
has played an historic role
in the establishment and
maintenance of hospitals,

important as government-
sponsored health programs
develop, Task Force spokes-
man Dr. David Sidorsky,
Columbia University pro-
fessor of philosophy, pre-
dicted.

The steady migration of
Jewish families from the
metropolitan centers of the
Northeast to smaller com-
munities in the West and
South;
The shift in population be-
tween the city, the estab-
lished suburbs and the newer
suburbs;
The gradual d

of extended families, which
included grandparents and
other relatives, and the
establishment of the nuclear
family, composed only of
parents and children, as the
accepted pattern;
