any of the congregation's fac-
tors. That is why, on his 65th
birthday, last Sunday, so
many greetings came from
these links.
Besides, through Shaarey
Zedek, Satovsky became a
leader in the National Fed-
eration of Jewish Men's
Clubs and served as its na-
tional president.
His father, Samuel Sat-
ovsky, was a builder of the

committee. Abraham Satov-
sky, who served as presi-
dent of every group that has

Shaarey Zedek, was Bar
Marva in the Willis and
Brush St. building.
Another cause for pride
for Mr. and Mrs. Satovsky
is that their grandchildren
now are fifth-generation syn-
agogue members.
As chairman of the legal
committee of the synagogue,
which he served as president,
retaining leadership in other
synagogue functions, Abra-
ham Satovsky still is re-
membered by some as an
usher during his student days
at the University of Michi-
gan. President of Phi Beta
Delta Fraternity, he missed
the football games to be
home with his parents in De-
troit and to serve his con-
gregation.
A native Detroiter, Satov-
sky attended Bishop School
and ottl Central High. From
U. or M. he received bach-
elors and law degrees. Ile
is a member of the Ameri-
can, Michigan and Detroit
bar associations.
.i s ;naarey Zedek and
men's clubs affiliations have
included the presidency of
both, and he is honorary life
president of the club. Ile is
a founder of the Great Lakes
Region of the National Fed-
eration of Jewish Men's
Clubs and is honorary life
president.
He M former president of
Detroit Lodge of Bnai Brith
and former vice president of
the Boat Brith Council. He
has been a member of the
advisory council of the United
Synagogue of America and
was .recipient of an award
from the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America.
Satovsky is a member of
the Detroit Service Group
and served on the Jewish
Welfare Federation's board
of governors, which honored
him with its merit award.
A visitor to Israel many
times, he led a Service Group

Mllel will hold its first social,

8:30 p m. Saturday at the 10
Mile Jewish Center.

ture local folk singers whose
backgrounds range from
classical folk to Hebrew to
blues.
Those who want to per-
form should reserve a time
slot by calling Howard
Storchan, 986-6967,,
