CENTRAL FUND
FOR TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Encouraging centralized support for the pre-
servation of 90 traditional institutions mostly
located abroad, the Central Fund allows sub-
scribers to make one gift in lieu of many
smaller contributions they formerly made
throughout the year as a response to mail
appeals and personal solicitation by
meshulochim.

stays of the organized communal process. Working
throughout the year to provide services and to act
on contingencies as they arise, the dedicated members
of these groups work hard and thoughtfully, putting

tenance, planning and proper support of Federation,
Its agencies and services.

FRED M. BUTZEL
MEMORIAL AWARD COMMITTEE

Consists of the incumbent presidents of Federation member
agencies, Detroit Service Group, Women's Division and the pre-
vious Award recipients. The Committee meets annually to select
an honoree for the Fred M. Butzel Memorial Award, pursuant to
the following criteria: length of service to Jewish community;
service to total Jewish community and its constituent parts;
service in the general community as a representative of the
Jewish community; character and integrity in communal affairs.

from the membership of Federation to be elected by the member-
ship, to fill vacancies on the Board of Governors, and to nominate
eligible individuals for office and membership on the Executive

RETIREMENT AND INSURANCE

This Committee reviews policy and seeks prop-
er developments in regard to the retirement
and insurance plans for Federation agency
employees. It likewise is the central insurance
authority for a large variety of other agency
requirements.

Salary standards and employee benefits are reviewed by this
Committee. It concerns itself with recommendations on agency
personnel problems. It serves as Federation's bargaining com-
mittee in union negotiations when appropriate.

By means of personal contact, individual mem-
bers of the Committee expedite the redemp-

Camp Tamarack sites at Brighton, Ortonville.

Serving as a central source of information
and advice on scholarships, this Committee
coordinates the financial assistance given by
a number of Federation, organizational and
private funds within the Jewish community.
Last year 35 students benefited by loans and
grants in the amount of $40,000. These aids
were available to students for all types of
training: undergraduate, technical and grad-
uat4 programs. _
