Detroit Service Group

The Detroit Service Group is the year-round or-
ganization of workers for the Allied Jewish Campaign-
Israel Emergency Fund.
Members of the DSG involve themselves, of course,
within their own professional and trades divisions
when the actual campaigning starts: In addition,
throughout the year they are engaged in advance
planning and in committees such as cash mobiliza-
tion and collection review.
Efforts of the group are recognized at the annual
DSG Stag Day, held this year at Knollwood Country
Club on September 14. This day of fellowship and
"no solicitation" gave campaign workers a chance
to get together, enjoy golfing and socializing, and
applaud the winners of campaign achievement awards.
The silver loving cup, traditionally given to the
campaign division which exceeds its prior year's
campaign total by the greatest percentage, was pre-
sented at this year's Stag Day dinner by 1972 AJC-IEF
Chairman Samuel Frankel to the Food Division, of
which Nathan L. Fink was chairman.
Momentoes of appreciation for their hard work
were given to all division chairmen and leaders of
the 1972 campaign which accomplished a record-
setting sum of $14,171,000.
The Group was also privileged to be the first to
learn of the appointment of Frankel and Paul M.
Handleman as general chairmen of the upcoming
1973 Campaign.
