dent of the United Hebrew

Foundation.
Ile has served as presi-
dent of the Jewish Welfare
Federation and as chairman
of the 1960 Allied Jewish
Campaign, 1968 Israel Emer-
gency Cash Campaign and
the Israel Bond Organization.
Cohn is past president of
the Detroit House of Correc-
tion and served as president
of the Detroit Urban League,
which honored him with the
Golden Anniversary Merit
Award. He also has served
on the Detroit Metropolitan
Area Regional Planning
Commission.
Cohn has sewed as presi-
dent of the Michigan Bnai
Brith Hillel Foundation and
received the Hillel Founda-
tion Award at the dedication
of the Irwin I. and Sadie
Cohn Hillel Hall at Wayne
State University. The Jewish
National Fund honored him
with the establishment of the
Irwin I. and Sadie Cohn For-
est in Israel.
He holds many other rec-
ognitions, including the Fred
M. Butzel Award in 1961 by
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion of Detroit and an honor-
ary doctorate from Bar-Ilan
University.
He and his wife Sadie (Le-
vin) have a son, Avern, a
daughter, Mrs. Rita C. Had-
dow; and seven grandchil-
dren.

Mrs. Berger, a past presi-
dent of Tikvah Chapter, will
participate in the celebration
of the chapter's 25th anni-
versary on this evening.

Zedek, Sharon Patti Bader
became the bride of Dr. Jeff-
rey I. Lipton. Rabbi Irwin
Groner officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Bader of Roanoke Dr., South-
field. The bridegroom's par-
ents are Dr. and Mrs. Ray-
mond Lipton of Canterbury
Ave.
The new Mrs. Bader wore
a princess-line gown of By-
zantine lace. A chapel-length
illusion veil was attached to
a Juliet cap. She carried a
pink bouquet.
Attendants included Diane
Bader, the bride's sister; and
Steven Lipton, brother of the
bridegroom.
After a honeymoon in the
Virgin Islands, the couple
will reside in Boston.

the direction of Rabbi Harotd
Loss, will start the year with
a white elephant auction 8:30
p.m. Oct. 21 at 'he temple.
In addition to the auction,
Eve, an artist from Birming-
ham, will do sketches of any
guest in,attendance. Refresh-
ments 1,, 1 be served.
Other activities scheduled
include a night at the races
Nov. 18; a "Fifties Party"
in February; and a weekend
in Toronto next April.
Young Marrieds of Temple
Israel will have holiday serv-
ices and social action pro-
grams. Serving as president
are Mr. and Mrs. Lance
Mermell.
