Atlanta School Will Stop Christmas Celebrations

ATLANTA — A Jewish
father who asked that Christ-
mas celebrations be elimi-
nated from local schools was
successful as the PTA of
the James L. Riley Elemen-
tary School announced that
his request will be granted.
The father, Larry Bogart,

said his two children at the
school were intimidated when
they refused to sing Christ-
mas carols. He said religion
"is a personal, emotional ex-
perience which cannot be
dealt with in schools without

offending someone.
School Supt. E. E. Baker
said Christmas celebrations
will be handled with a yet-
to-be determined system
wide plan and not school by
school.

EMBARRASSING moments

squirted all over the house—

HERE'S A NEW twist
observed by Linda Kates ...
an elderly lady sitting with
her back against the extrac-
tor machine in a local laun-
derette . . . She was calmly
reading a book while the ma- •
chine vibrated against her
body . . . For years she had
a back ailment that didn't
respond to treatment until
one day visiting the laundry
she had rested against the
extractor . . That was the
cure . . Every day she
came in for more treatment.
