MISS VERA KREISMAN

A performance by The Batsheva Dance Company of
Israel will be the kickoff event for the celebration of
Israel's 25th anniversary year at the Jewish Center Nov.
4 and 5 at the Center. The company undertook its first
American tour in 1970, at which time Clive Barnes wrote
in The New York Times: "The Batsheva Dance Company
of Israel is, as national dance companies go, a veritable
infant. But as national dance companies go, it also goes
extraordinarily well. The infant is fit, lusty and a joy to
watch in these youthful, vibrant first steps." In its Paris
debut at the International Festival of Dance in November
1971, Batsheva walked off with the first prize as Best
Company of tne Festival. There will be reserved seats
for both performances. Tickets are now on sale at the
Jewish Center. For information, contact the cultural arts
department, 341-4200, ext. 237.
