State Department Says U.S.
Can't Ask Extradition of Lansky

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
The U.S. Government wants
to put Meyer Lansky on trial
for tax evasion and contempt
of court but apparently will
not ask Israel to extradite
the 70-year-old reputed gang-
land boss.
This was indicated Tues-
day by state department
spokesman Charles Bray who
said the U.S. could not do
much formally to bring
about Lansly6s extradition.
He said the charges against
Lansky are not an extra-
ditable offense under the
U.S.-Israel Treaty of 1962.
Bray discussed the Issue

following a ruling by the Is-
raeli Supreme Court in Jer-
usalem Monday upholding
the government's decision to
, expel Lansky.
The Israel government,
however, promised Lansky a

1943 Psychoanalytic Study
of Hitler Revealed in New Book

Twenty-nine years after a
secret study of Hitler was
made by an American psy-
choanalyst, the information
has been released and now
is in the form of a book to
be released Sept. 22.
The book, "The Mind of
Adolf Hitler," is authored by
Dr. Walter C. Langer and is
published by Basic Books.
Dr. Langer investigated
the mind of Adolf Hitler for
six months in 1943. He was
gathering intelligence for the
Allies, interviewing people
who knew Hitler and were
available to the intelligence
agencies of the United States.
"Hitler was prehablv a

pre-Hitler atmosphere in the
United States and England.
"If you look around Lon-

to perfectly sensible, liberal-

Sir Alec Guinness' words
tell of the seriousness and
hard work he is putting into
the title role in a new film,
"Hitler: The Last Ten Days."
