In my visit to the Soviet
Union last fall, I inquired as
to the status of Soviet Jews.
I was informed at that time
by Soviet officials that re-
ports of discrimination and
efforts to discourage emigra-
tion were Zionist propagan-
da. When I later reached Is-
rael and spoke to Soviet Jews
who had emigrated to that
country, I, of course, learned
the truth—that the discrim-
ination was constant and that
every conceivable roadblock
was thrown in their path to
discourage them from leav-
ing Russia.

"But this new action is
' vicious and heartless. It de-
' serves the condemnation of
the family of nations, and
certainly in the lead of that
condemnation should be the
United States of America.
