The Bike-A-Thon, which will start at Metropolitan Beach be- tween 8 and 9 a.m. Sept. 30, is modeled after the very success- ful Walk-A-Thon which was held last May, with nearly 15,000 walk- ers raising over $215,000 to aid the March of Dimes in the fight against birth defects. Maxwell Gurman, executive di- rector of the Metropolitan Chap- ter March of Dimes, says "this could be the biggest Bike-A-Thon in the country if we generate the same enthusiasm as we did for the Walk-A-Thon." The 34-mile distance will con- sist of nine trips around a six- mile course, starting at Metropoli- tan Beach and going around the parking lot and out onto the Met ropolitan Beach Parkway. The route will continue along the Park- way to L'Anse Creuse and back to the beach. and Juniors.. IN OAK PARK 23133 COOLIDGE NORTH OF 9 MILE RD PHONE 545-3242 .
