Thanks to the invention of an Israeli artist five years ago, Borden, Inc. ci Columbus, 0., plans to produce 500.000.000 of the plastic "Elsie" sticks a year. Borden bought licensing agree- ments for the product. The sticks were originally in• vented by the artist for fit- together toys. But Borden's saw them as safe, attractive holders of ice cream. Unlike wooden sticks, the plastic ones have no sharp edges, and have corners and perforated holes enabling the sticks to be made into toys.
