Monday in Oakland County Circuit
Court of breaking and entering
and manslaughter in the 1967 slay-
ing of Shaarey Zedek guard Aice
Green. The manslaughter charge
carries a 15-year maximum pen-

The Oakland County Prosecutor's
Office had sought a second-degree
murder conviction but the jury ap-
parently believed the manslaughter
charge conviction was what the
evidence warranted.

LETTER BOX
NRP's Abstention on Bill
1
Draws Reader's Attack
Editor, The Jewish News!
July 12, 1972 a hill was pre-
sented in the Knesset regarding
the question "Who Is a Jew?"
which stipulated that only conver-
sions according to Halakha could
be accepted.
It is with great dismay that it
was learned that the National Re-
ligious Party (Mizrachi) abstained
on such a crucial issue despite the
rulings of leading rabbinic author-
ities demanding they vote for it.
It is even more unbelievable
that one Mizrachi minister who
had the nerve to vote for Ha-
and
lakha was reprimanded
ejected from his position.
How can a party claim that they
are dedicated to Halakha and rep-
resent religious Jews when they
abstain on an issue that violates
Halakha and the desires of reli-
gious Jews the world over, regard-
less of their political motives for
doing so?
If these individuals violate their
own principles which they claim to
espouse, how can they be trusted
by the government on any issue?
Sincerely,
BEN YISROEL

crime while they were together
in jail. Trudeau, however, said an-

The other man took the stand
but said be could remember
nothing of 1967 because illness
had damaged his memory.
Trudeau was charged under the

that says a participant in a crime
is as guilty as the one who actually
commits it.
The Oakland County Prosecutor's
Office will seek to have Trudeau
declared a habitual criminaL If
such a declaration is successful, it
would allow Trudeau to be sen-
