The college will pay a 3 per cent interest rate on the loan, with the federal government paying the difference in interest at the current market rate (8.75 per cent) over the next 20 years. Dr. David Weinstein, presi- dent of Spertus, said that such a grant, awarded under the Title III program, usually is given to large. nonsectarian institutions. "The action by IIEW." he said. "indi- cates the importance they place an our programs and the rising interest in Jewish studies.'' Spertus is expanding steadily by offering everything from individ- ual courses to full-degree Judaica programs to nearby general col- leges and universities which are unable to meet a growing demand among their students for such pro- grams because of lack of funds or faculty. Dr. Weinstein said that Spertus College enrollment currently - is 500 students, half of them full-time and half enrolled at nearby col- leges and taking courses at Sper- tus Ile projected up to 2.000 stu- dents in 1975.
