Miss Marcus is a graduate in
elementary education from Wayne
State University. Her fiance holds
a bachelors degree and a masters
degree in speech therapy, both
from Wayne State University.
The couple plans a spring wed-
ding.

On Mother's Day, May 14, fam-

of trees in Israel in honor of
mother, or to perpetuate her mem-
ory.
According to David P. Zack,
president of the Jewish National
Fund, D,etroiters have been using
the plantireg of a tree in Israel for
many years as a way to mark
Mother's Day as a day of special
significance.
Zack said that trees in Israel are
of vital importance to Israel's'
economy and security. Many new-
comers to Israel are employed by
the JNF in the planting of trees.
The trees also provide lumber,
help to hold the soil in place and
furnish shade and recreational'
areas.
Everyone who has visited Is-
rael in recent years, said Zack,
marvels at the lush, green for-
ests that grow in the once bar-
ren desert.

The JNF office, in Oak Park,
will be open from 10 a.m.-2. p.m.
May 14 for the convenience of
those wishing to purchase trees
for Mother's Day.
