Mrs. Peter Gilbert, Michigan CARIH
Head, to Host Detro it Chapter Luncheon

Mrs. Peter Gilbert, president of
Michigan State CARIH Council of
Presidents, is chairman of the day
of the annual donor luncheon of
the Detroit League of CARIH 12:30
p.m. May 17 at the Raleigh House.
Mrs. Max Robiner is president of
the Detroit chapter.
CARIH (Children's Asthma Re-
seacrh Institute and Hospital of
Denver), raises
funds to aid crit-
ically ill children
suffering from
intractable asth
ma. It also raises
money to aid
asthma research.
The luncheon
will include a
fashion show, ac-
companied by
Frankie Paul.
Mrs. Gilbert
Jean Piwowar of Dearborn, who
was cured of asthma after two
years of rehabilitation in the Den-
ver hospital, will appear. tier
mother, Mrs. Walter Piwowar, is
president of the Dearborn chapter
of CARIH.

Prizes will be awarded, including
a savings bond.

The Midwest region includes
Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana,
Minnesota, Michigan, and Windsor.
Marilyn Betman, former Michi-
gan coordinator, has been appoint-
ed Midwest coordinator.
The first organized activity of
the Midwest region will be partici-
pation in the May 21 demonstra-
tion which the JDL is planning in
Washington, D.C., preceding Presi-
dent Nixon's trip to the Soviet
Union.
On May 22, the day on which the
President leaves, members of the
Jewish community will be asked
to wear yellow Mogen-David arm-
bands to work an to school to
dramatize the plight of Soviet
Jews, and to drive with headlights
on during the day.
The Oak Park office will be co-
ordinating transportation to Wash-
ington from Michigan. Buses will
leave Saturday night and will re-
turn to Oak Park Sunday evening.
