Mayor Roman S. Gribbs signs a proclamation declaring April 30
as Soviet Jewry Solidarity Day in Detroit. Participating in the
ceremony are representatives of the Jewish Community Council and
Detroit Action Committee on Soviet Jewry who are sponsoring a
Solidarity Da ,rally 1 p.m. Sunday at the Southfield Civic Center .

11.30 a.m. at Southfield High
School on 10 Mile Rd. at Lahser.

Chairman Paul Zuckerman issued
the following statement on behalf
of the United Jewish Appeal: "As

only our tradition but our obliga-
tion to share in the struggle of our
brothers from the Soviet Union
at this moment in history.

Solidarity Day to raise our voices
for their freedom, we must also
make certain that the funds are
made available for their quick
assimilation into the mainstream
at Israeli society

COPENHAGEN )JTA) — The
consensus of opinion in Ceylon is
that it was a mistake to have
broken diplomatic relations with
Israel two years ago, but most
Ceylonese do not foresee a re-
newal of relations in the near
future.

Scandinavia interviewed many gov-
ernment and United Nations offi-
cials on the island and members
of the Moslem community. All
persons interviewed asked not to
be identified because of possible
political repercussions and reac-
tion from the Arab states.
