UN Association
Bans Resolution
by WJConuress
READING, England (JTA)—Rep-
resentatives of Jewish organiza-
tions walked out during a debate
on the Middle East at the confer-
ence of the United Nations Asso-
ciation here because a resolution
submitted by the British section of
the World Jewish Congress was
not placed on the agenda.
The resolution had been endors-
ed by both Israel and Arab repre-
sentatives and a similar one was
adopted by the World Federation
of UN Associations at its meeting
last May in Luxembourg.
The banned resolution called on
a 11 parties concerned to create a
just and lasting peace in the Middle
East based on the principles of the
Security Council's Resolution 242.
It called on all parties mean-
while to observe the International
rules for the treatment of the in-
habitants of occupied territories
and to ensure respect for the ter-
ritories of other countries and
for the safety of international
communicaions.
Mrs. Elizabeth Collard, a dele-
gate from the Council for the Ad-
vancement of Arab-British Rela-
tions and John Ennals, a vice
president of the World Federation
of United Nations Associations
both regretted the removal of the
resolution from the agenda.
