Danny Lipman Co-Winner
of 1972 Hopwood Award
The University of Michigan Pro-
fessional Theater Program's cur-
rent playwright-in-residence Danny
Lipman and recent Acting Fellow
James Baffico have been chosen
as the 1972 winners of prestigious
Hopwood Awards of $1,000 each
for original dramatic scripts.
The full-length comedy "Last
Respects," produced in Ann Arbor
last February under the supervi-
sion of Artistic Director Marcella
Cisney, won the prize . for Lipman.
Lipman. in addition to winning
the 1972 11cpwood Award, has also
been selected by the Eugene
O'Neill Foundation to: be a mem-
ber of the celebrated Writers Con-
ference at Waterford, Conn., where
leading playwrights, critics, play-
ers, producers and directors gather
for seminars and institutes in
playwriting and dramatic criticism
each summer.
He will receive his master of
arts degree at the U-M this spring
under a Shubert Theater Founda-
tion Fellowship with the PTP.
