Schneerson. At the celebration in Brooklyn, at which messages were read from notables throughout the world, the eminent novelist, Herman Wouk, displayed the congratulatory letter from President Nixon to Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, director of Lubavitch activities in Philadel- phia. With them in the photo are Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Lubavitch national public relations director, and on the extreme right, Rabbi Berl Shemtov, director of Luba- vitch institutions in Michigan. The photo of the Lubavitch Rebbe shown below, with Rabbi Chaim Chadakoff in the back- ground, was taken while Wouk was leaving the Rebbe's sanctuary. The Rebbe as a rule does not allow himself to be photographed.
