Behind the battle lines, a different kind of war is being fought in Israel. A war against need.
Prime Minister GoldiMeir has said, "We can be defeated by poverty."
For 23 years, thouiands of immigranta have been rescued and brought to Israel by Jews of the free world.
The people of Israel cannot help us keep up with the increasing needs of these immigrants. 50,000 more are expected this year.
300,000 are still not self-sufficient. Their needs are our traditional responsibility, and they cannot wait any longer. We must fight to close the gap now
