best meet the needs and desires
of_ those involved.
The Jewish Free School Cinema
will present "The Dreamer" this
Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Labor
Zionist Institute. The choice of
which fantasy to live, which con-
fronts a young man working at
an asylum in Safed, is the theme
of this Israeli film. A small ad-
mission charge for young people
helps defray the cost of the series.
Immediately following the film,
the initial meeting of those inter-
ested in the Free School will be
held. It is hoped that the direction
for the project will be set, and
preparations for beginning the Free
School will be made. Anyone with
questions or something to con-
tribute should contact me at 862-

Editor, The jewisli'News:
We, a groupof young, con-
cerned Jews, *re of the firm con-
viction that our peers would wel-
come an opportunity for cranial
exercise and -fraternization within
a Jewish context in the broadest
sense of that term. At the present
time we are actively engaged in
organizing a project to this end.
We envision the Jewish Free
School as a place where partici-
pants can explore, in an active
and unbotmded sense; the phe-
nomena (from Cooling to religious
philosophy, frorn *music to social
history) which play their separate
but related 'roles in describing
and determining the Jewish na-
tional identity.

Jews Caught in Middle
Between Black. White?

Editor, The Jewish News:
The media has presented us
with the news that Imamu Baraka,
formerly know as LeRoi Jones,
was a gamer knocker at the Na-
tional Black Political Convention
held in Gary, Ind. He was the
convention chairman, no less. So?
So this: Imamu Baraka happens
to be one of the most venomous
Jew haters on the American scene
today.
Tice situation has gone far be-
yond vewing this event and the
anti-Jewish fulminations of the
Black Panthers, Black Muslims or
other black extremists as being
mere anomalies of the black power
movement, for now it can be seen
that these aberations are, in fact,
basic.
The old bane of our people,
the numerus damns, which we
had regarded as being of his-
torical interest only, is now
sneaking in by the back door in
the guise of ethnic quotas.
I fear we Jews are in quite a
predicament. We still have our
enemies among the whites and on
the other side our former friends,
the Blacki, have adopted the preju-
dices infecting the white majority.

Warns of Urgency to Vote
Editor, The Jewish News:
In recent days, I've heard many
young people of voting age saying,
"Why vote? My vote won't make
that much difference." The "why
vote" attitude helped destroy Ger-
many and Hitler became the
scourge to every Jew. Why not
vote? It is the right given to every
American Citizen who has reached
the_ age of majority. Now, this
right/franchise, if you please, to
vote, is a costly right and not to
be taken lightly. Men died so that
you may have the right of choice,
to select the candidate of your
liking. Your right to vote began
at Valley Forge. Lexington and
Concord, it is still going on today
In Vietnam.
Don't you lose your right to vote
with an "I don't give a damn" atti-
tude. The same can hold true for
a lot of older persons who hold
that belief. Get out and vote every
chance that you have. if not, you
may lose that right.

Pareve—Neither Milhig
Nor Fleishig, but Neutral

Editor, The Jewish News:
In The Jewish News issue of
March 10 (Purely Commentary),
someone (a Jerusalem columnikt)
defines the word "parv_e" as
"neither kosher nor trefa, but
neutral." Besides being incorrect,
it doesn't make sense.
If one can use or consume some-
thing in accordance with the law
of kashrut, it is kosher—if not, it
is not kosher, and there are no
buts about it.
Pareve means to us neither
fleishig nor milhig, just neutral
but kosher at the same time. Vege-
tables and fruits, for example, are
kosher, not traifa, but pareve.

French Prisons to Relax
Rules; Will Benefit Jews

PARIS (JTA)—Jewish prisoners
in France will be able to receive
Passover food parcels from their
families through the offices of the
prison chaplains, France's director
of prisons announced.
Henri Le Corno said in a circular
to his personnel that he would sus-
pend the Nov. 12, 19?1 regulation
prohibiting prisoners from receiv-
ing food parcels from their fami-
lies or visitors during the holidays.
The regulations "were not sup-
posed to hinder Jewish prisoners
in the practice of their religion,"
Le Como explained.
The Jewish prisoners also will
be able to receive supplies needed
for the practice of their religion
and will be able to buy Jewish
food-stuffs in the prison canteens.
There are 350 to 400 Jewish
prisoners in France, and 34 Jewish
prison chaplains.
