Mizrachi Women Honor Ruth Alelesandrovich Sisterhood Volurifeeri to Nursing Homes Growing in Number Mrs. Joseph H. Jackier, chair- man of the volunteer services committee of the Jewish Family and Children's Service, announces that Temple Kol Ami Sisterhood has joined with other area sister- hoods in the agency's nursing home project. They will be visiting with the Jewish residents of the Franklin Manor Nursing Home on Franklin Rd., Southfield, twice each month and, in addition, will prepare an observance in the home for each of the Jewish holidays. JFCS nursing home visitors act as friend and family to Jewish residents of nursing homes. The homes and sisterhoods par- ticipating in the project are: Ar- nold Home, Temple Beth El; Bloomfield Hills Convalescent Cen- ter, Beth Jacob of Pontiac; David Nursing Home, Beth Abraham- Hillel; -Farmington, Young Israel of Oak-Woods; Franklin Manor, Kol Ami; Mt. Vernon, Shaarey Zedek and Temple Emanu-El sis- terhoods; Sherwood Hall, Beth Abraham-Hillel. In addition, the following sister- hoods participate in the holiday programing: Adas Shalom, Beth Achim, Beth Moses, Beth Shalom, Bnai David, Bnai -, Moshe and Temple -Israel. Two teams of independent volunteers service the Mt. Ver- non Nursing Center, bringing the total number of women involved in the project to approximately 100, serving 300 Jewish residents in nonsectarian - homes. JFCS Volunteers also serve as friendly visitors to home-bound in- dividuals, shoppers and drivers or just friends to those in need of a listening ear or a helping hand. The Temple Emanu-El youth group and: Ahava -and Szold chapters of Bnai Brith serve as JFCS volun- teers at Federation Apartments, assisting with the dinner meal served in the cafeteria. Miss Alek- sandrovich, now married and a resident of Israel, was voted the award at the 46th national con- vention of Mizrachi Women "in symbolic tribute of the courage and steadfastness of Soviet Jew- ish women whose struggle to maintain Jewish cultural and religions identity is an inspira- tion to all who cherish the ideals of freedom of conscience, free- dom of. religion, and freedom• of emigration, of all peoples every- where."
