*or correspondent áhOcovered:

many of the major happenings
in „Israel.
Sehoenbrun told many stories re-
lating to his experiences as a com-
mentator who reported on the -Is-
rael War of Independence, the fight
on anti-Semitism, the struggle to
attain justice for Jews everywhere.
In a humorous vein, he described
the Jewish ability to laugh in de-
fying dangers. .
Describing his experiences in

viewing Israel's military role, he
said that Israel's army, while it is
the 'world's greatest, is marked by
the fact that the soldiers "do not
want to be an army" and that they
crave for peace.
"We must be ready to stand up
to anti-Semitism in every way, un-
der all circumstances," Schoen-
brim said. He urged the gathering
to stand fast in the task of pro-
tecting' the Jewish position and of
assuring security for Israel with
the generosity that marks Ameri-
can Jewry's responses to human
needs.

UJA General Chairman Paul
Zuckerman made a strong appeal
to all American Jewish commu-

providing for the Russian emigra-

new Exodus, and resolve to keep
the promise of freedom." In his
Passover appeal, Zuckerman de-
clared:
