Youth Commission

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the
first time in the 128-year history
of Bnai Brith, a woman hai been
chosen chairman of one of its
agencies.
Mrs. Louis L. Perlman, High-
land Park, 111., was elected chair-
man of the Bnai Brith You th
Commission at its annual, meeting
here. Mrs. Perlman, who is a for-
mer international president of Bnai
Brith Women, succeeds Jack J.
Spitzer of Los Angeles. who will
now head the Bnai Brith fund
campaign cabinet.
Although she- has served as - a
vice president of the Leo N. Levi
Hospital in Hot Springs, a vice
chairman of the Anti-Defamation
League and received a Mile'
Honor Key from the Bnai Brith
Hillel Foundation at the University
of Illinois, Mrs. Perlman's major
interest during 37 years of Bnai
Brith service has been its teen-
age youth movement.
Mrs. Perlman became the mo-
tivating force behind the formation
of Bnai Brith Girls as a national
and international organization.
Subsequently, she became a found-
er of the Bnai Brith Youth Com-
mission.
Mrs. Perlman served as a vice
chairman of the youth commission
for many years and as the com-
mission's liaison with the girls.

Dinner to Honor Mayor Norman:, Feder

At the leadership reception on behalf of Oakland Century Lodge
of Bnai Brith hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kasai, which honored
Mayor Norman W. Feder of Southfield and resulted in over $75,000
in Israel Bond subscription, are (from left) seated, Mr. and Mrs.

was in advance of the Oakland Century Israel Bond dinner-dance, to

Israel Shalom Award by Ambassador Ovadia Soifer, member of

anent mission of Israel to the-United Nations.

Singles Form New Mixed BB Group-

The newest Bnai Bilth group—Re-
vakim—for single Jewish men and
women age 18-30, may serve as a
pilot project for the rest of the
country.
According to Dennis Rice, execu-
tive director, the group was insti-
tuted as a means for single adUlts
to identfy themselves -with a Jew-
ish cause, to have a sense of be-
longing and to be able to serve the
community.
The name, "Ravalcim,” means
single in Hebrew. This is.one of the
first such groups in the country,
and may serve as an example -for
