graduating froni the school in its

1st Woman Named
as Staff Director
of AJCongress

NEW YORK—Naomi Levine, a
New York attorney, has been ap-
pointed executive director of the
American Jewish Congress and
will be the first woman to head
the staff of a major national Jew-
ish organization of both men and
women, it was announced.
Mrs. Levine, currently director
of the Congress' commission on
urban affairs, will assume her
new position Oct. 1, succeeding
Will Maslow, executive director of
the -American Jewish Congress
since 1960.
Mrs. Levine, 47, is a graduate
of Hunter College and the Colum-
bia University Law School, where
she was an editor of the Columbia
Law Review. She is assistant pro-
fessor of race relations at the
John Jay College of Criminal Jus-
tice of thc City University.
