Contributors come from 39 coun-
tries—United States, Israel, United
Kingdom, France, Brazil, Ger-
many, Canada, Switzerland, Den-
mark, Australia, Belgium, Argen-
tina, South Africa, Netherlands,
Hungary, San Salvador, Norway,
Yugoslavia, Italy, Jamaica, Lux-
embourg, India, Philippines, Chile,
Czechoslovakia, Panama, Austria,
Sweden, Poland, Turkey, Mexico,
Spain, Greece, Nicaragua, Portu-
gal, Japan, Rhodesia, Ecuador and
Bulgaria.
The greatest percentage of con-
tributors, 53 per cent, came from
Israel, but 33 per cent were from
the United States and 4 per cent
from the United Kingdom.
A wide variety of professions
were represented among the con-
tributors: 35 per cent were teach-
ers and professors; 8.6 per cent,
both rabbis and professors; 7.7 per
cent, rabbis alone.
Other professions included
journalists, writers and editors, as
well as historians, researchers,
lawyers, doctors, engineers, am-
bassadors, architects, librarions,
archivists, judges, bibliographers,
economists, critics and an accoun-
tant, a photographer, a minister
and a poet. There also were 67
members of ministries and 12
members of the Israeli parliament.
Of the 959 contributors from Is-
rael educational institutions, near-
ly 24 per cent are connected with
the Hebrew University, over 8 per
cent from Tel Aviv University and
5 per cent from Bar4lan. Others
are associated with Hadassah
Medical School, Technion, Weiz-
mann Institute, Haifa University
and the University of the Negev.

SAVANNAH (JTA)—The Savan-
nah Jewish Council • has started a
survey to determine why college
students—including Jewish college
students — are not returning after
graduation to live in Savannah.
Dr. Murray Arkin, president of
he Jewish Council said available
information indicated that in the
mid-1950s, 52 per cent of Jewish
college graduates returned to Sa-
vannah and that the figure drop-
ped to 36 per cent in the early
1960s and to about 20 per cent in
the late 1960s. Savannah was esti-
mated to have a Jewish population
of about 3,500.
