Veteran don- ors here will receive special recog- nition during the month, and ef- forts will be made to receive ad- ditional volunteers to meet an ex- pected 10 per cent increase in local blood needs this year. The Michigan Community Blood Center is a member of the Amer- ican Association of Blood Banks which initiated the month in 1970. "January was chosen," explains Dr. Wolf Zuelzer of the Michigan Community Blood Center, "because it is often the most difficult time of year for blood banks.
