a.- • And a Good Time Was Had by All at Flint's Community Hanuka Party The Flint Jewish Community Council sponsored its first commu- nitywide Hanuka party on the first night of the holiday—a result of the suggestion by the Senior Friendship Club. With the cooperation of Cong. Beth Israel and Temple Beth El, the event drew almost 400 men, women and children in an expres- sion of community spirit and to- getherness. Teen-agers danced to rock and roll and led in the hors, with all ages joining in. Even the two rab- bis participated in the dancing. Refreshments were furnished by the Senior Friendship Club and Hadassah, with Mrs. Max Fran. kel and Mrs. Frances Hertz as chairmen. Chairman Edward Powers began the meeting with the singing of Hatikva and the Star Spangled Banner. At each table was a menora. The shamos candle was lit in unison, and the first prayer was led by Louis Kasle. The sec- ond prayer was led by David Price, and the third by Israel Itaacs. An English reading was presented by Eileen Rosenberg. Rabbi Gerald Schuster spoke on the significance of David Ben- Gurion's birthday, and Rabbi Gil- bert Kollin presented his feelings on the significance of a community Hanuka party. Israel Sendler de- livered a talk in Yiddish on the significance of the community ga- thering and said he hoped this would become an annual event. Any member of the community wishing to purchase trees in honor of Ben-Gurion's birthday may con- tact Mrs. Hertz.
