Owner Sam Sandler is an ex-poul-
try man and steel salesman who
had never been in the deli busi-
ness before last July when he
opened his Ferndale spot . . . Sam
works behind the counter him-
self, making sure that the food
and sandwiches are good enough
for himself before being served
to the customers . . It's just a
little place in the middle of a long
block, but Sammy's Delicatessen
is well worth visiting.

Anderson, appearing at the Winery
