the MitopsY rate dropped far be,
low the rate required for a first--
class- teaching hospital, and there-
fore the policy had to be changed.
Mrs. Schenk, Hadassah's ,presi-
dent, attributed the blame to the
religious parties in Israel for be-
ing derelict in not successfully get-
ting the Xnesset to change the
law. She seems to imply that the
law demands autopsies when in
fact It just permits them.
'Hadassal, being by far the larg-
est hoipital in Israel, could set-
the trend and be more instru-
mental in getting the law changed
than any Political party.

Editor, The Jewish News:
'In your paper of Dec. 3, you
printed JTA news release con-
cerning "Harassment of Patholo-
gists.' I in no way mean to con-
done the acts of the "religious
zealots" or "hooligans engaged in
terror."' However, to link the
legitimate grievances of hundreds
of thousands of concerned Jews
with the actions of a few ex-
tremists who commit - reprehensible
tactics against patholo gi sts, cannot
be allowed without protest.
The acts against the religious
freedom, as well as the human
rights of our fellow Jews in Israel
are by far more detestable than
those committed by the former
coroner of Detroit. In a country
such as ours, to compare the pro-
test (even militant) of one who
is defending a "basic" human
right to that of a "burglar" is to
libel the names of all those who
have fought for the rights to be
free in our country.
