in Jerusalem.
Contributions from the Rothschild
Foundation and the government of
Israel amount to close to two
thirds of the total building cost.
Stern and Ludwig Jesselson an-
nounced their joint endowment of
the Outpatient Clinic Building in
memory of the late Mrs. Shoshana
Sapir.
Tribute also was paid to the
Ivy Judah Foundation of England,
which has pledged to endow the
extended care department, and to
the William S. Schwartz Memorial
Fund of Los Angeles, which will
endow the research center in the
new medical center.
Work has begun to clear the 15-
acre site in Belt Hakerem opposite
Mount Herzl for the medical cen-
ter, which will be completed by
1975: The 500-bed •main hospital
building will rise six floors above
ground, with rise six. floors above
eluding a special underground
emergency hospital.
Separate buildings connected to
the hospital will house the school
of nursing, two outpatient clinic
buildings, a research center, clin-
ical laboratories and medical li-
brary, lecture hall and auditorium.
(The Detroit Friends of Shaare
Zedek Hospital will sponsor the
kidney treatment unit. The local
group is engaged in a campaign
to raise necessary funds.
(A benefit concert will be held
Jan. 30 at Oak Park High School.
