Closer Israel Ties Urged by Romanian JERUSALEM (JTA) — Outgoing Romanian Anrbassador Valeriu Georgescu said here that he hoped relations between his country and Israel would become even closer and that the scheme reuniting Ro- manian-Jewish families with their relatives in Israel would be speeded up in the near future. Georgescu spoke at a farewell re- ception giyen • in his honor by Gideon Rafael, director general of the Israel Foreign Ministry. His share in improving rela- tions between Romania and Is- rael was praised by Absorption Minister Natan Peled who noted that there are some 300,000 Jews in Israel from Romania. AMSTERDAM (JTA)—The Jew- ish cemetery in Warsaw is being systematically vandalized by pro- fessional criminals for profit, the Dutch daily Avro reported. According to correspondent Link Van Bruggen, who is touring Poland, protests by the Jewish congregation in Warsaw have been fruitless. Van Bruggen reports that every night intruders penetrate the ceme- tery through an unmended gap in the fence and steal tombstones. These are later polished to remove the inscriptions and sold for the production of new marble grave- stones. According to the newspaperman, the Jewish cemetery is already largely in ruins. 9 MILE . & VAN DUE PLEASANT RIDGE 24142 WOODWARD (SOUTH OF 10 MILE) NEW ORLEANS MALL • Oubb Greennein and Ten Mile • !hos Prs,, r ,- ,plionk • Fr.buious ',11;f • Bud RoMps Shp. • The Boater, • Pickwick 'Mops • Bobs Hair fo,hmos • Rcgsby Shoe • :do s BorM:r Shop • Room At The Bottom • Doug Hoffman Itd Goldmann, Brandt Confer on German Reparations BONN (JTA)—Dr. Nahum Gold, mann, president of the World Jewish Congress, met here with President Gustaf Heinemann and Chancellor Willy Brandt• and said afterward that he thought compen- sation negotiation with West Ger- many "would be concluded in a satisfactory manner" in 1972.
