"The Story of Levi Strauss," a
musical for children, will be pre-
sented 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Chan-
ne17. The story, performed by the
Jewish Center Young Dancers
Guild, is based on the life of Levi
Strauss, designer of the first pair
of blue jeans in San Francisco
in the 1850's.
Harriet Berg, - director of the
Young Dancers Guild, has taken
the facts about this little-known
American pioneer and created a
dancing show. It includes an en-
counter with Indians_ train rob-
bery, a pack of high-jumping cow-
boys and a quartet of sisters who
cut and sew the first pair of
American frontier pants from the
"serge de Nimes," now known as
'denim."
