Mrs. R. J. Mittleman. chairman
of the Flint Jewish Community
Council's blood pr o g r a m, an-
nounced that 33 pints were col-
lected in the pre-Thanksgiving Day
program.

Mark Hanuka_ With
Gift to Soviet Jewry

Beth Israel Hebrew Religious
School PTA will host a brief Erev
Hanuka social for students of the
elective program 11 a.m. Sunday
in the Coolidge School community
room. There is no charge. Re-
freshments will be served.
During the break, the students
will have the opportunity to con-
tribute for the purchase of ele-
mentary Hebrew books to be
shipped to Jews in the Soviet
Union.
The students suggested a mini-
mum of 50 cents contribution—or
more—any other contributions are
welcome.
(Students of the elementary de
partment will celebrate Hanuka
with class parties and dramatics
and sending Hanuka gifts to Israeli
students of their age.)

Wendy Katz to Gary Bruce Fleish-
man was announced- at a family
dinner Thanksgiving Day at the
Katz home. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Katz of York-
town Dr. Her fiance is the son of
Mr. 'and Mrs. Robert Fleishman
of Pittsburgh. Both seniors at the
University of Michigan, they are
planning a summer wedding.

commemoration of David Ben-
Gurion's 85th birthday, the coun-
cil join with congregations and
sponsor a celebration.
The idea was approved and a
planning committee appointed: Ed-
ward Powers, chairman; Rabbis
Gilbert Kollin and Gerald Schus-
ter, Herman Acker and Israel
Sendler. Community youth groups
asked if they, too, could partici-
pate.
Powers stressed that the eve-
ning is planned for the whole
family. The program will begin
with the lighting of the first
candle at each table. Refresh.
ments are being provided by the
Senior Friendship Club, with ar-
rangements by the youth groups.
Mrs. Frank Ralik. a member - of
the Young Leadership Group,
will provide decorations.
Music and entertainment will be
by Eric Rosenow's orchestra.
"We want the entire community
to join us,” stated Klein. "We
hope that families will join our
community party after they have
observed their individual celebra-
tions at home. We plan to begin
on time and end at 9:30 p.m., so
that all our children can attend.
Families should come together so
that we can together sing, dance
and proclaim our joy and herit-
age."
