Herbert Stein Named
to Key Economic Post

The tiniest hair casts a shadow.
—Goethe.

Detroit-born economist Herbert
Stein was named by President
Nixon to replace Paul McCracken

Feder urged citizens to particpate
in a planned blood donation pro-
gram, to form blood clubs, to as-
sist in the recruitment of donors
so that the ccmmunity of South-
field might build its own depend-
able blood supply.
Joel Garrett, manager of recruit-
ment for the Michigan Community
Blood Center, said he believed
that blood donor clubs were part-
icularly successful in other com-
munities in other states, but that
they had been slow developing in
-Michigan.
Many industrial firms, commun-
ity organizations, professional as-
sociations, fraternal groups and
religious groups are now forming
blood donor clubs in order to as-
sume their memberships of a de-
pendable, safe and ready supply of
blood. Advances in blood techno-
logy, such as the Michigan Com-
munity
Blood Center's
frozen
blood program, protects donors
even more because blood can now
he stored longer.
