Robert S. McKenzie, chairman of
the State Bar committee on profes-

"Professional Economics,or How
To Make Money From the Prac-
tice of Law" There is an admis-

He noted that lately he has seen
Jews tell jokes about thenieelVes,
"jokes that only perpetuate stereo-
types and thusly -prejudice." He
feels that this sort of ethnic ham.
or, centering on Jews or Blacks
or any minority, does no one any
good.
Simultaneously, during his lec-
tures, Slater has encountered young
people who were proud to learn
of the actions, usually illegal, and
the risks that their parents were
willing to take to ensure the sur-
vival of Israel directly after World
War II.
The people, their actions and

their risks are the basis for
"The Pledge." It tells the story
of a bard core of Jews and non-
Jews in America who risked
violation of the U.S. neutrality
laws in seeing that Israel was
sufficiently armed for defense
against the Arabs.
