for Chronically Ill

JERUSALEM --- The new ward
for chronically Ili aged at Shaare
Zedek 'Hospital here will provide
comprehensive medical and social
services for the sicked aged.
It marks a significant step for-
ward in JDC/Malben's over-all
•plan to help provide Israel with a
professionally organized national
system of care of long-term pa-
tients, Lodis Broido, Join Distribu-
tion Committee chairman, declared
at a ceremony marking the inau-
guration of the Jerusalem project.
JDC/Malben contributed 1/.500,-
000 ($120,000) toward the. cost of
the long-term ' ward at Shaare
Zedek Hospital, • Broido reported.
He also announced the beginning
of construction of a 60-bed ward
for the chronically at Tel Has- -
homer Hospital' in the Tel Aviv
area.
The Association for the• Plan-
ning and Development of Services
for the Aged, of which JDC/Mal-
ben is a major partner, will pro-
vide 1L1,200,000 ($288,000 ) to- 1
ward its cost.
