Editor, The Jewish News:
How does one go about relating
the most exciting experience of his
life: observing the High - Holy Days
in Israel?
- -But, alas, there is also sadness.
Sadness in the fact that for 32
years of my life I have been de-
prived of these pleasures. Why?
Why has American Judaism been
unable to fulfill me in the same
way?. It isn't only living in Israel
for many of my experiences
could have taken place in American
synagogues.
In Israel, there is no pomp.
Everything is so unpretentious. I
saw no mink coats; people did
not care about .being dressed in Ratinati to Appear
the latest styles; 'men came in
open, collared white shirts,- women at Wtithtenaw Event
in simple dresses.
