Israel's Past Future to Be Panel Topic

A special program "Israel in-, Creation:. Pest, Present and
Future" will be featured at the 1971-72 dawn...kickoff •event of the
Women of Jewish National Fund noon Tuesday -at Cong. Bnai Moshe.'
The meeting, which' also will be a tribute to the 70th anniversary
of .Jewish National Fund, will begin with an Israeli dessert luncheon.
Participating in the panel will be (from left) Mendathes Kenneth
Shevin, president of Young Women of JNF; Louis Levine, program
chairman of the Women of JNF; Frank Silverman, president; and
William Levjn, fund-raising chairman and past president. Mrs.
Philip Slomovitz will be moderator. The audience will join the dis-
cussion. JNF blue boxes will be cleared at this meeting,

Federation Unit to Apply. Hillel's Words
to Contemporary Communal Issues

The women's division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation will
hold its 25th annual institute at
the Jewish Centex- 9:30 a.m.-230
p .m. Dec. 7.
The theme is based on Mel's
words: "If I Am Not for Myself,
Who Will Be for Me? If I Am
for Myself Alone, What Good Am
I? And, if Not Now, When?"
Mrs. Milton Weiss is chairman
of the institute. Co-chairman is
Mrs. Robert Willens.
At the morning session, Mrs.

Young Women Learn
Leadership Me.aning

The leadership seminar of the
Federation will close with lunch-
eon Thursday at the home of Mrs.
Charles Stone, 23135 Laurel Val-
ley, Southfield.
The seminar met for five weekly
meetings at Federation agencies,
such as the Jewish Vocational
Service and Community Workshop,
Camp Tamarack, Sinai Hospital,
Jewish Family and Children's
Service, Jewish Center and Jew-
ish Home for Aged.
Meetings are designed to ex-
plain the work of the organized
Jewish Community to young
women who have shown leader-
ship potential, according to Mrs.
Brand Mandl, seminar chair-
man, An executive of each
agency spoke with the group at
the various facilities.
At the final meeting, the women
will be .brought up to date on the
situation of the Jewish popula-
tions overseas and in Israel.
There also will be a discussion
on "the meaning of leadership."
Mrs. Abraham Pasternak is co-
chairman, and Mrs. Joseph R.
Jackier is orientation chairman.
Serving on the planning commit-
tee were Mesdames Sydney Blue-
stone, Peter Cullman, Frederick
Katz, Richard Komer, Sheldon
Krause, James Labes, Aaron Ross,
Saul Sauleon, Robert -Siegel,
Charles Stone, Harold Sheba%
and Norman Sussman.

Luncheon will follow.
The afternoon session features
Dr. Allen Pollack, professor of
Russian history at Yeshiva Uni-
versity and vice-chairman of the
American Professors for Peace in
the Middle East. Dr. Pollack will
speak on "The Soviet Union vs.
the Jewish People."
There is no fee •for the insti-
tute, but there is a nominal charge
for luncheon.
