Peggy Mann, biographer of
"Golda," the life of Iseael's prime
minister, will be featured speaker
at 1 p.m.
Miss Mann was graduated from
the University of Wisconsin at
age and was offered a job
as staff writer at CBS—the
youngest the network had ever
hired. Aside from "Goble," she
has done numerous travel ar-
ticles and two children's books
on Israel, as well as over a
dozen other children's books.

intellectual thriller, "The Book of
Daniel," will be guest lecturer 8:15
p.m. Nov. U, announces Louis
Segal, president of Metropolitan
Detroit Bnai Brith Men's Council.
"The Book of Daniel" is a com-
pilation of historical data relative
to the Rosenberg espionage trial
as seen through the eyes of one
of the children, Daniel.
Doctorow's earlier novels are
"Welcome to Hard Times" and
"Big as Life." Formerly editor-
in-chief of a prominent New York
publishing house, he has been
writer-in-residence at the Univer-
sity of California at Irvine.

versity of Leipzig, Dr. Lachman,
in addition to being a teacher and
leiturer* was one of the important
journalists of pre-Hitler Germany.
In 1938, he - went to Palestine.
Following 1sraers establishment,
he was appointed personal repre-
sentative of the minister of educa-
tion and culture.
In the United States he has
served as executive vice presi-
dent of the American Friends of
the Hebrew University, as asso-
ciate editor of the weekly Ger-
man-language newspaper Aufbau
and as executive vice presi-
dent of the America-Israel Cul-
tural Foundation.
Also on the agenda for that eve-
ning is an anniversary celebration
honoring Book Fair chairmen of
20 years.

The Hebrew department of the
Jewish Center will present Dr.
Reuven R. Brits, 8 p.m. Nov. 14.
He will speak in Hebrew on his
"The Process of Creativity."
Dr.- Gritz is a member of the
Tel Aviv and Haifa university
staffs of Hebrew literature and
education. Last year, he was a
visiting professor at the depart-
ment of Near Eastern Languages,
UCLA, and is presently a visiting
professor at Hebrew College in
Boston.
Besides his latest Hebrew novel,
"Lights," he has -written "Fresh
Morning" for which he received
the Barash Prize for Youth Lit-
erature, "Little Sister," and "Can-

of the JLC Michigan Region for
more than 38 years, will receive--
a national award for his services
to the A.C. „Dr. S1 ran is'
honorary rAMsnum of the Midi-
igan Region. Also prelent at:the
convention, will be Laura Car-
per execative secretary- of the

Joseph Kerte r, the Soviet
Union's most prominent Jewish
poet until he emigrated earlier this
year, will speak on the - plight of
Soviet Jewry Saturday evening.
More than 500 delegates are
expected. .

day afternoon. -
Amos Eiran, first secretary of
the Israeli Embassy, will address
the closing session of the conven-
tion Sunday. - afternoon. He will be

tive director of the A. Philip Ran-
dolph institute, speaking on the
"Urban Crisis" Sunday morning.
