Dr. Goldmann, who addressed a closed meeting of the WJC's gov- erning council, said that current issues, dramatic and tragic as they might be, such as Soviet Jewry and the fate of Jews in Arab states, should not obscure the dangers of "assimilation, inte- gration and disintegration" in the Western world. Another fundamental issue which Judaism will have to cope with is its relationship with the East- ern bloc and the Afro-Asian coun- tries, Dr. Goldman stated. Anti-JeWish Words in UN, Anti-Soviet Attack Deplored NEW YORY (JTA)—The National Jewish Community Relations Ad- visory Council denounced the anti- Jewish and anti-American attacks by Soviet and Arab delegates in the United Nations last week. It condemned at the same time the sniper attack on the Soviet UN Mission in New York which it said was the "springboard" for the outbursts by the Soviet ambas- sador to the UN, Yakov Malik, and Jamil M. Baroody of Saudi Arabia. The NCRAC, a coorGinating body of nine major national Jew- ish organizations and 91 local Jewish councils, assailed the "en- couragement" given to the per- son who allegedly fired into the Soviet Mission "by those who would covertly condone violence while publicly attempting to dis- sociate themselves from it." The reference was obviously to the Jewish Defense League though the NCRAC statement mentioned no names. Isaac M. Jaroslowicz, a JDL member released last Friday on $25,000 bail, is charged with having illegally obtained the rifle said to have been used in the shooting but has not been accused of firing it. A hearing is scheduled Nov. 10. The gun was found in an air shaft in Hunter College, near the apart- ment building that houses the Soviet Mission. The sniper was be- lived to have fired from the roof. Jaroslawicz, 18, was described as a rabbinical student at Yeshiva University. He could face a five- year prison term and $5,000 fine if convicted. Federal District Attorney Robert A. Morse said Jaroslawicz was found guilty Sept. 13 of criminal trespass in an incident at the office of the New York Board of Rabbis. Smallest of Quints Dies; Others Well JERUSALEM (JTA)—The smal- lest of the quintuplets born to Mrs. Hadassah Berman here last Fri- day died Wednesday. Doctors at Hadassah Hospital said the infant, a boy, weighed less than two pounds at birth. The other babies, three girls and a boy, were reported doing well. A legal problem had been created by the multiple birth. The problem stemmed from the lack of any pro- visions in the Natienal Insurance Law for quintuplets. It was de- cided, however, that their mother, 23-year-old Mrs. Hadassah Ber- man, would receive one grant for twins and another for triplets. The infants weighed from one pound eight ounces to two pounds 14 ounces at their delivery by Caesarean section in the seventh month pregnancy. Mrs. Berman had been taking fertility pills which were said to have accounted for the multiple births. Her husband, Yitzhak Ber- man, owns a shop that manu- factures flags and pennants. Asked if he could support his instant fomily of five, Berman re- plied, "Don't worry, I won't stage a sit-down strike at the welfare bureau?'
