This Oast summer we: visited a
few Piece/ around 'met world. Our.
- tour took us to such exciting spots
as Japan; -Hong Kong, Thailand,
India, Iran, Israel, France and
England. -Besides - enjoying . the
sightseeing as all tourists do, I
was determined to renew my re-
cipe supply -and bring home some
exotic new dishes that could be
adopted- in our Jewish_kitchen and
adapted Ito what is - available in
America. I interviewed many
cooking experts and teachers in
the various countries,- visited mar-
ket places, bought local cook
books, spoke to chefs :and restau-
rant owners; and took long notes.
In Hong Kong, our culinary
guide was William Mark of the
Hong Kong Tourist Association.
•One of our expeditions took-us to
the Grand 'Hotel Restaurant in the
center of "the shopping district--
Kowloon. There we bad a chance
to get acquainted with Robert King
and"his fantastic Corn Soup. The
soup features small pieces of thick;
en in it besides the corn -kernels.
It is thick, 'rich and an ideal dish
for the cold days of this season.
The Chineie call it Gai Yung Bak

name
preparation time ls - .very short,
and the results are excellent.
