Nuries' Training Begun for Retarded in Israel .

NEW YORK—A 10-month train-
ing course for urgently needed
nurses to care for retarded chil-
dren in Israel was begun this
month at the Jerusalem Training
Institute, it was reported by Sam-
uel L. Haber, executive vice chair-
man of the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee.
Two short-term courses had pre-
viously been given for aides who

were already working in institu-
tions for retarded children, Haber
said, but these were of only six
months' duration since the girls
had already gained practical, on-
the-job experience.
The program is receiving finan-
cial support from Malben, the JDC
program in Israel maintained by
United Jewish Appeal funds, Haber
said.

NEW YORK — Students - at Bar-
Han University in Ramat Gan,
Israel, face a unique kind of
language barrier in their studies:
Even though they are primarily
Israeli students at an Israeli uni-
versity, 90 per cent of their re-
quirea reading is in English, in-
cluding some -of the important
biblical and talmudic commen-
taries.
To `deal with this problem,
Bar-Ban professors, under the
leadership of English depart-
ment- chairman Prof. M. Roston,
have devised- an audio-visual
language laboritory with a pro-
gram custom-made to fit the
needs of the Israeli students.
The aim of the program is to
teach students to speak, read and
write general and specialized
English fluently.

Made to your exact
measurements, they will
overcome your indi-
vidual shirt problems.

corded so it's
